Hello, I am a writer from Kennewick, WA. I am working on a book for Arcadia Publishing, which publishes pictorial histories of cities big and small. Currently we are working on Pendleton, Oregon. I am wondering if the Chamber has some pictures it would like to share, both vintage and from more modern times. There may be specific business or events the chamber would like to see promoted and I am more than happy to include such photos in the book. I am looking for early businesses, homesteads, etc. especially if they are still standing, as well as events such as parades, round-up, etc. or any memorable natural events such as floods or snowstorms. I don’t need actual prints, but digital photos scanned at 300 dpi TIFF format and placed on a CD or e-mailed. Let me know how you would want the photo credit to appear.

I also need to know if there are any other major events in the Pendleton area besides the Round-up that draw visitors, and if so, the time of year such events occur. I am also looking for a general estimate of number of visitors that come to the Pendleton area each year. I bet a large amount visit the casino alone.

I tried sending this to info@pendletonchamber.com but it bounced back and would not send. Hopefully this version gets to you.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter. Thank you,

  • I just want to say how in love with Pendleton I have become. My dad moved there 4 years ago. I have been to visit every summer since, I stay about a month. Each time I head back to Indiana it has gotton harder. I find myself almost feeling lost, because there is that part of me that longs to be there. It is a beautiful little town, the people are so friendly and laid back. I feel more at home there than i have anywhere my whole life! Pendleton is an AWESOME town!! And someday I will live there!! :)

      Angela,
That is wonderful. I moved here 15 years ago and I don’t plan on living anywhere else! A fantastic town with a lot to offer. I love it so much I got the position of Tourism Director! You should consider relocation!

May have to leave the hubby home!! :) Some day Lord willing I will be there enjoying the beauty it has to offer! You all are so lucky, and probably dont even realize it! I have been looking at the Roundup info. and pictures, just one more thing Pendleton has to be so proud of!! What an awesome event!!! Gave me goose bumps last year when i went to my first rodeo there and the Queen and her court came flyin around the track waving, oh my gosh that was the absolute most awe inspiring thing i had ever seen!! My grandaughter still talks about it!! Just keep me in your prayers and im hoping to be there soon! Have a great day all you wonderful people in Pendleton!! :)

  • Love Pendleton! Thank you for your support. We look forward to doing a tasting in your beautiful town really soon :)

Visiting Family is always great and when they live in an authentic Western Town like Pendleton with so much to do it is even better. Hope you had a great visit and come back again soon.

  • I really enjoyed your website. I think the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce really did put their money to good use with this site. I makes me want to come to Pendleton now not later on in the summer like we planned.

    • yolanda says:

      Mr. Goode,
Thank you for your kind words, we worked very hard to provide a site with good easy to find information. If you have any questions regarding your upcoming trip please just let us know.

Have tickets to the Round Up in Sept 2012, and can’t find a place to stay! Wouldn’t you think that with 9 months to go a room should be available? Some places are showing rooms available for $800.00 a night!!
    Rediculous!!!

  • JudyB says:

We have 9 months until Round Up, and no rooms available in town, although we have tickets for the rodeo!! But, if you want to pay $800.00 a night you can get a room!! Something wrong with this picture!!

    • yolanda says:

      Judy,
I hope you have used the listings on our website to search for lodging. It is very difficult to find lodging as we have approximately 1200 rooms and 50,000 visitors during Round-Up. The Chamber offers a few programs to assist with lodging. We have a private housing lodging referal program and also a camping program. Contact info@pendletonchamber.com for more details! We are committed to helping all our visitors have a great Round-up experience.

There’s a great book that kids should read before they travel the Oregon Trail so they understand and enjoy more of what they are seeing.
Photographs and paintings throughout the book bring the trail to life. WEST TO OREGON WITH OLLIE OX! by M. R. Dundy is accurate and fun.

    Check it out at: http://www.WestToOregon.com.

We have always done the traditional fireworks but this year the Pendleton Round Up Association and Pendleton Grain Growers are adding Professional Bull Riding and Barrel Racing. The VFW will be adding a parade for the morning of the 4th and our Main Street Cowboys will be putting a FUN and PLAY activities at the Roy Rayley Park for the 4th. Below is a link that talks about what the Round Up Association will be doing and there will be more info out as we get closer to July.

Hello Pendleton,Oregon I was looking through a box of old papers from my grandparents house and found a menu from the Fraternity Club Pendleton,Oregon. There is no address or date on it only the propieter. was Fred T. Hall. A T-Bone dinner was 3.25 and beer was 30 cents. If anyone knows what year this was I would be interested to know what year they visited there. Thanks.

  • Becky Macki says:

I have to admit when I was younger Pendleton was not my favorite town in the world. I was from the Portland area at the time and couldn’t stand the small town life, now I am older and have lived here in town for 3 years I have come to enjoy the laid back sense of the smaller town. Wouldn’t trade living here. I recommend living here for just the right balance of civilization and country living.
