Umatilla County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate

Do you want to be part of a team that provides safety and assistance for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence or stalking? If you fit the following criteria, please give us a call:

  • Good judgment, problem solver
  • cultural competence, excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Associate degree, or High School diploma plus experience
  • Good Boundaries
  • Computer skills
  • Valid driver license and insurance
  • Must pass background test and drug test

Direct Service

Provide outreach to all of Umatilla County including remote communities

Contact potential community partners in Umatilla County

Develop effective strategies for reaching potential clients

Locate meeting space for delivering direct services

Respond to survivors in crisis

Provide safety planning and advocacy for clients

Provide Life Skills, support groups and other classes for clients as appropriate

Assist with court hearings and restraining orders

Provide transportation for clients in crisis and other approved purposes

When assigned to shelter:

  • Conduct intakes, house meetings, assess client needs, and explain shelter guidelines and procedures, provide information and referrals
  • Conduct support groups for clients using approved curricula
  • Maintain client records, and provide case management
  • Conduct basic yard maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized office, monitor supplies


  • Participate in related community groups to learn of programs that benefit clients and to promote DVS services
  • Public speaking on behalf of DVS
  • Represent DVS in outreach tabling opportunities


On call, crisis and back-up duties as assigned

Attend staff meetings and training

Assist with event planning and implementation

Non-exempt, full-time
